12-03-2013 | Communiqué du STATEC

STATEC publishes a detailed analysis of the results of the survey on adult education (AES) conducted for the first time in Luxembourg in 2012.

The survey, conducted among more than 3300 residents between 25 and 64 years, focuses on the activities of formal education, non-formal education and informal learning in which adults participated in the 12 months preceding the survey.

It shows that 70% of adults participated in a formal or informal learning activity during the last 12 months. At European level, Luxembourg is one of the most active countries in the field of adult education, together with the Scandinavian countries and the Netherlands. The level of educational attainment is a primary determinant of participation in adult education: the higher the level, the more people continue to participate in adult education : among those who have reached at the maximum lower secondary education, participation rates in adult education is 55%, whereas it is 68% among those who have successfully completed secondary education, and even 82% for those with a tertiary education.
