N° 06/2013 The coverage of collective agreements
Collective agreements are agreements between trade unions and employers' organizations, which relate to working conditions. In Luxembourg, 59% of employees are covered by collective agreements. Outside the public sector, the highest coverage rate is observed in the health and social work activities (87%) and the lowest in the accommodation and food service activities (13%). Among blue-collar workers, 72% are covered by a collective agreement. Among the white collar workers the coverage rate is 51%. Furthermore, it is mainly the workers belonging to the “middle classes” who benefit from the coverage of collective agreements.
