N° 07/2013 Pedestrians involved in road accidents in 2012

During the Second UN Global Road Safety Week, to be held 6-12 May 2013, and dedicated to safety of pedestrians, STATEC takes a look at pedestrians involved in road accidents in 2012.

In 2012, in 193 road accidents pedestrians were injured. Six pedestrians were killed in a road accident, 64 pedestrians were seriously injured and 130 escaped with minor injuries. The majority of these accidents occurred in urban areas. Children and the elderly are the most vulnerable. Half of the pedestrians were injured at a crosswalk.
