07-2014 eGovernment

On the occasion of the World Telecommunication and Information Society Day, STATEC examined the use of e-government in Luxembourg. In 2013, nearly 60% of the residents aged between 16 and 74 who had Internet access have had online interactions with public services or authorities. Most of them were satisfied with those services. The proportion of e-government users among the Web connected residents was higher in Luxembourg than in most of the EU-28 members. Half of the internet users in Luxembourg have downloaded forms created by public authorities from the Web, more than one out of three users have searched and found information on public authorities’ websites and more than a quarter of them have filled in and sent online forms to public authorities. Residents who have not filled in such online forms mostly did not do so because they did not need to. Furthermore, 42% of them state that they prefer face-to-face contact to online interaction and 39% of them say that they trust more the paper version of a form.
