23-2014 Analysis of working time

As part of the quadrennial survey on labour cost, STATEC conducted a thorough analysis of working time.

The main conclusions of this analysis are:

• With 1773 hours per year in 2012, the average working hours (for a full-time equivalent) declined slightly compared to 2008, after having increased during the decade before ;
• The number of hours actually worked in Luxembourg remains above the European average, neighbouring countries and neighbouring regions ;
• In Luxembourg, 17.5% of employees work part-time, against 25.3% on average in the European Union ;
• Overtime is down ;
• Absences are stable.
