N° 14/2015 Use of ICT by households

The use of the internet is is now part of everyday life: in Q1 2015, almost all resident households (97%) have Internet access at home. 94% of Internet users connect almost every day and 81% connect outside their home and their workplace. 8 in 10 people are surfing on a smartphone or a laptop, two thirds on a desktop computer (PC) and nearly 50% on a tablet. The module of the 2015 ICT survey covers security. It reveals that 31% of Internet users have encountered a security problem during the year preceding the survey, most of the time a virus or infection. Nearly ¾ of users create backup files, reflex which decreases with age. It also shows that nearly 7 out of 10 net users know the principle of cookies and that nearly half protect their IT devices against them. Other result of the module: 34% of Internet users share their password(s) with their relatives.
