R&D and Innovation in the business sector
The surveys on Research and Development (R&D) and on Innovation collect data from businesses in order to produce harmonized and comparable statistics at European Union level. The collected data are also used for the preparation of national accounts.
The R&D survey is carried out annually and is combined with the topic on innovation activities every two years (biennially). The survey is announced by mail to the sampled enterprises. The contacted firms should reply within one month following receipt of the announcement.
